closing at the opening

Blessed new moon!

This is a love letter about closing and opening, literally and metaphorically, and how they relate to transformation.

What's closing: registration for Dive Into Your Deck and Light Your Lantern, in less than 24 hours.

(Real quick thing that I want to be very clear:
Dive Into Your Deck is required for attendance at Light Your Lantern.
So if you're interested in coming to Light Your Lantern in November, you need to attend Dive Into Your Deck. Even if you don't join the live sessions this weekend, you have the rest of the month to complete the class, if you want to Light Your Lantern next month.
Make sense? Registration for BOTH are closing, and I don't want people to miss these because of weak communication from my side.
Once more, those discount codes: [redacted].)

What's opening: the actual experience of these classes.

I'm beyond excited to share the magic of tarot and oracle combined with practi-spiri-cality. These classes have been over a year in the making! Already, in just the introductory material, people have had profound insights.

If you're wondering whether I timed these classes to open at new moon – yes, absolutely, I did.

Timing is just as important as content. I believe in tuning into natural cycles as part of our own transformation. We get supported by nature and we support nature, by witnessing and acknowledging its power and potency.

New moon is an ideal time for your intuition to plant new seeds, expand into new wisdom.

Now, let's add transformation to this cauldron.

A few days ago, I experienced, for the first time, watching a butterfly readying itself for its first flight:

(As they dried, the wings slowly unfurled.)

This Gulf fritillary clung to the chrysalis, seemingly patiently to my human view.

Usually I don't witness this part of the process. I've seen many empty husks still hanging on outside walls; I see loads of butterflies fluttering around.

Seeing the butterfly, gigantic and vibrant next to the small, dry, empty chrysalis, really struck me.

At one time, that small, dry chrysalis was the perfect, safe, comfortable container for the caterpillar that made it.

And yet, this same chrysalis was now a terrible fit. Clearly. It would only hinder the natural expression of life and vibrancy of the creature that clung to it, for the first and last time.

That got me thinking about transformation – that when we're ready to embody ourselves in a new way, when we're preparing to embark on another journey, our previous space is so clearly, obviously a terrible fit.

I looked at that butterfly and wondered how it even fit into that chrysalis at all. I mean, it is possible, of course. And yet it is so obviously *not* where the butterfly belongs.

And that's how transformation feels, right?

I didn't always understand that. I used to get confused.

When looking at my old life or my prior self, I have wondered if I just imagined the way it was. I have been my own unreliable narrator, questioning my lived experience.

Because it seems impossible that I ever fit into those impossibly small and uncomfortable spaces.

Have you ever wondered this?

I got so confused at seeing what once was the perfect, cozy, nurturing space, that became so confining and restrictive.

But seeing this butterfly made me understand that I need not question myself. It's completely natural that the old life, in retrospect, is impossibly small.

Yes, precisely so. By definition.

That's how you know transformation has truly occurred.

How this relates to closing class registration and opening the class experience –

Because this example of transformation is exactly how I view education (all kinds of education).

You learn ideas that are so gigantic, your previous perspectives seem tiny in comparison.

Your mind and your heart expand so much, that what previously held you cannot possible contain you anymore.

This is very much my intention for Dive Into Your Deck and Light Your Lantern. By the end of these classes, your understanding of these decks, your capacity to explore this way of divination, your intuitive skills will be so expanded that your previous understanding will be tiny in comparison.

If you're feeling drawn to these practices, or you know you already resonate with them, I would love to have you in class. If you've been on the fence about joining, I encourage you to explore. If you have any questions that I can address in helping you decide, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regardless of whether I see you in class, may all your learning feel as expansive as that butterfly, gigantic in comparison to the tiny space that once contained it.

In resonance,
S.
