Dive Into Your Deck & Light Your Lantern

As promised, more details about the 2 tarot classes happening in autumn:

Dive Into Your Deck
A comprehensive & engaging foundation to tarot & oracle practice

October 8th-10th

~ If you're new to divination decks or mostly overwhelmed navigating them, this class gets you super clear on structure, general symbolism, & exploration into archetypes.
~ For more experienced readers, this class brings you to greater depths than readings alone can give.
~ You'll go beyond labels & names to a point of feeling at ease exploring not only your current deck, but any others you choose to work with.
~ By the end of Dive Into Your Deck, you'll have a rich, powerful understanding of the broad, consistent structure of tarot decks.
~ You'll be confident not just in your understanding, but approaching any deck & feeling comfortable. No more helplessness or overwhelm with a deck. No more talking yourself out of using a deck because it's too sophisticated or complicated for you.

Light Your Lantern
An illumination into specific patterns & insights of your deck

November 5th-7th

~ With your solid foundation, this class gives a framework to exploring your specific deck. The framework is applicable to all decks, but the purpose is to understand your deck deeply, not broad structures relevant to all decks.
~ You'll consider artistic choices, language, & other patterns to find insights unique to your deck & your relationship with it.
~ Whether your deck is new to you or a familiar companion, you will discover & integrate wisdom beyond the obvious, beyond the visual, beyond the guidebook.
~ You'll strengthen both your powers of observation & connection to intuition. Subtleties in cards & life will start to come to life.

These classes are inextricably connected, but they are also 2 distinct phases of tarot practice.

In each class, we'll go through a detailed framework that will bring you clarity, insight, and confidence.

As usual, there will be an emphasis on cultural fluency & the broader application of these practices to life off the altar cloth.

Not only that, but also all the content is repeatable, with your current & future decks.

I'll let you know when the webpage is live. In the meantime, some FAQs + feedback from the class I taught last year:

Is this appropriate for beginners?
Absolutely. These classes have come out of my years of tarot & oracle practice. They are all the material I would have loved to have at the beginning of my journey. The intention is to build your ease, fluency, & confidence, regardless of any prior experience (or lack of it).

I've been using tarot decks for years. Will this be too basic?
Great question. I taught some of this material in a class last summer, and I glossed through material that I thought would be too basic for experienced readers. To my surprise, the material I de-emphasized was work that no one had done, despite many years of practice.
In my personal practice, I've used these frameworks with decks I've had for years — I, too, have learned many new things & deepened my relationships to decks I thought were already as familiar as they could possibly be. Whereas, in fact, there have been plenty more layers to explore.

I have conflicts for part of those weekends. Can I still register?
For sure. If you take some sessions out of sequence, it's not a huge deal. The classes are structured so that each session is mostly discrete. The order of sessions within a single weekend is not essential. Recordings will be posted as quickly as possible. Of course, you will have access to all content after the live weekends.

Will you be teaching these classes again next year?
The intention is to have these classes available for future students, using the recordings from these live weekends. These 2 classes will be prerequisites for my future tarot & oracle classes & workshops.

I'm really into oracle decks but not tarot. Can I use my oracle deck, or do I have to get a tarot deck?
All the content is relevant to both kinds of decks. I've used these frameworks for both, to great success. Oracle decks are more fluid than tarot, so you'll simply have a little less structure to dig into.

Feedback from a beginner student in last summer's class:
"As a beginner, this class has set a foundation for me to continue growing my tarot practice already so tapped into my intuition. It has set a proper foundation for me to read my cards from a place of inner knowing from the very beginning. S. brings in an enormous amount of depth that will not only expand your mind about using intuitive tools, but also about how we relate to the world around us."

Feedback from an experienced student in last summer's class:
"I used to consult my deck for a wide variety of reasons, with an eye toward how it helped me connect to my own inner thoughts. My methods worked well enough for years, but eventually it seemed to me that I had lost my ability to read the most important component of the tarot: myself.  This class rekindled my enthusiasm and, more importantly, gave me a solid foundation on which to place my intuitive connection."

Thanks for reading & I hope you'll want to join these classes!
