Does your intuitive work connect you to the world?

That subject line is a sincere question.

These wild times are WILD. Every day feels like some sort of mindf#%!, right?

So much healing. So much division. So much hope. So much heartbreak.

If you've been reading these love letters for a while, then I imagine that subject line question feels a bit rhetorical: Why yes, of course intuitive work connects you more deeply to the world.

I'm not one for "shoulds" because I find them generally to be intrusive and overbearing.

It's not that intuitive work "should" connect you more deeply to the world –

So much that intuitive work DOES connect you more deeply to the world.

If not, what are you actually doing? Are you in the completely abstract, hypothetical dimensions of knowing?

(I mean those ones where people with loads of privilege (cis, able-bodied, white, etc) ignore actual circumstances we live in and wax on about manifestation and attaction.)

If so, what do you actually know? (That's another sincere question.)

Because when you bypass the challenges and the heartbreak, you also shortchange your capacity for joy.

If you're skeptical, I'll share a personal example. Given all the intensity in the news—continued outbreaks, the horrific situation in Afghanistan, the heartbreaking treatment of Haitian asylum seekers, and more—I've had some amazing medicine, that's held space for me.

It's simple and close to home:
2 (going on 3) generations of butterflies taking over my yard (Gulf fritillaries, specifically). In the past 2 months, I've spent at least 3 weekends of sitting on my porch, watching butterflies, and little else—naps, card readings, a few books.

On one hand, that's nothing, compared to the destruction in the world.

Alternatively, though, it's everything.

I'm grounded; I'm clear; I see the world as it is. I experience the world as it is, with me fully present in it.

And all of that shows up in my tarot and oracle practice. Art helps me navigate all the things that come up in these times. I pull cards when I'm distressed. When I'm perfectly at ease. Regardless of the externals, the insights are crystalized and received.

For those who already know this, that intuitive work can connect you more deeply to the world – you'll be right at home in Dive Into Your Deck & Light Your Lantern. In these spaces for foundational learning about tarot and oracle practice, we're going to strengthen that connection to cultural fluency and social justice.

Intuitive work, like anything else in life, is a mirror to yourself: your beliefs and values, your subconscious biases, your aspirations and dreams.

If that's more recently becoming clear to you—perhaps these love letters are showing some of those connections—you'll also be right at home in these classes.

Leaning into intuitive practices is not about bypassing or shaming anything, even the icky parts.

Intuitive practices, as I teach them, are about fortifying your courage, deepening your connections, and underscoring your compassion. Experience and expertise are not required for these classes. Just a resonance with values. Live life, love life, live love.

So, if you want to explore those things, in a safe and brave space where we all (including me) see our flaws and our brilliance – I encourage you to join Dive Into Your Deck & Light Your Lantern.

No more perfunctory readings that are just regurgitation from the book. No more solely hypothetical, airy associations.

Actual, tactile connection to wisdom that's right there, available, all the time – and yet so elusive if you don't have a grounded, connected practice.

Regardless of whether I see you in class, I sincerely hope your intuitive and spirit practices do connect you more deeply to the world. The world needs you, as you are, fully. And we all need supportive practices to keep us as ourselves, if not amplifying ourselves.

If that's not the case for you, or if you want to amplify even more, I hope to see you in class.

Yours truly,
S.
