peaceful urgency

Blessed new year, if you get into the Gregorian timing.

Because I'm not rushed to explain peaceful urgency, I'm mentioning here that, as usual, the end of this love letter has a listing of upcoming events.
Also as usual, I'm not going to send lots of reminders, as I just don't have the bandwidth. If you're interested, please note the details and plan accordingly. I would love to see you!

Last year—in this case 12 days ago—I got up well before sunrise, and through some serendipitous encounters and nudges from spirit, managed to find the monks on the Walk for Peace.

I was with my friend Kelbi, and as we approached the monks, we smiled and asked permission to walk with them. The leader told us to walk behind the group.

I don't know if you've been following their journey, but for me, the photos and videos have not captured the pace of these folks. They are SPEEDY. The mission is palpable, in so many ways.

Here's me, barely keeping up with their pace:

So, I ended 2025 with this sense of peaceful urgency, which I'm carrying into 2026.

I can explain what that means by rewinding a little further. The latter half of 2025 was a big slowdown for me, for several reasons. I only played a couple soundbaths; I didn't host any group events; I was pretty deep in hermit mode.

During that time, though, my desire for those things didn't diminish. I just had time and capacity constraints that didn't allow for them.

Consequently, my list of aspirations got pretty long.

If I were still in my previous indoctrination of capitalist patriarchy, I'd tell you that I have time for EVERYTHING ALL THE TIME AND HERE'S THE SCHEDULE FOR THE YEAR.

However, I'm not that person anymore. Don't ask me about New Year's Resolutions; I don't make them.

Now, I'm thinking about those aspirations in light of peaceful urgency.

So far it looks like this:

~ The first round of Sacred Fermentation is already bubbling in the crock! Fermentation, for me, is one of the easiest examples of magic existing. Just in case you know a skeptic.
My intention is to do this as close to monthly as possible, recognizing that it absolutely won't be.

~ Kelbi and I haven't led a Sacred Grief Circle in many months, and we've both missed it. The next one is Sunday, January  25th. We both hope to do these consistently, as they are deep medicine and people have really profound experiences.
What consistency that actually is, we don't know. So, if you're interested, we hope to see you there!

~ First sound journey of the year is Thursday, January 29th! By donation, all are welcome.

~ Quality time with friends. Zoom dates, walks, coffee, art-making.
(Mind you, some of these are in the future, as this year is only 11 days old. But the plans exist!)

~ Quality solo time. Books, knitting, divination.

~ Inching ever so slowly on the production of my oracle deck, Numinous Spiral. At this point, "inching" feels like too speedy of a description. Millimetering? I'll take nanometering. Whatever will get this done.
This project has been going for 7 years, and I think the birth will be in the next year. Sharing here for accountability ;)

~ I've taken 2 naps today. I had major nap deprivation last week and it was ROUGH. So, I'm pulling myself back into the more restful flow whenever I can.

What are your thoughts on peaceful urgency?

Winter warmth,
S.
