how are you growing your creativity?
I have another question before I get into the question on the subject line –
Are you moving slowly these days? Do the last few weeks feel like months?
This is your reminder that overwhelm is a tactic. Find your peace, honor your limits, nourish your growth.
On nourishment – creativity and intuition are deep medicine.
Intuition, as I define it, is a creative act.
In these troubled times, more than ever we need creativity, intuition, and the magic we make with them.
If you're terrified about the current administration, that's reasonable.
If you're numb and shut down right now, that's reasonable.
However you're feeling right now, there's nothing wrong with you.
I hope that whatever you're doing, you're building your capacity for creativity and intuition. The more we can attune to the subtle realms, the more we can find connections, the better we'll be in these wild times.
Because having discernment of who and what are safe, holding wisdom about how to face oppression, and knowing how to be agile in rapidly changing times require all our inspired, creative, and intuitive powers.
I find that honest, intentional spaces are most supportive towards growing my intuition and creativity. In honest intentionality, I can relax, and thus drop more deeply into my creative and intuitive capacity.
Because all too often, social expectations push us towards hiding our anxieties. I find that so stressful; I've realized that staying out of those spaces is good for my mental and emotional health.
More recently, I've been to gatherings where the host has encouraged people to share. Which is a great improvement.
However, I've found that 1 of 2 things tend to happen:
~ Because the host isn't holding a deeply intentional container, people are still too shy to share.
~ People overcome the hesitation to share, but the space becomes a box of nerves, because no one is transmuting the energy—because the space doesn't have the intentionality to transmute anything.
So, those spaces are stressful for me too.
Living Altars is neither of those things. It's a deeply intentional space, which means we're not going to get stuck in awkward loops of being afraid to share the obvious or collapsing into repetitive conversations we've all already witnessed online and in person.
Living Altars—an in-person playshop for divination, creativity, and sound—is an honest, courageous space to transmute whatever energy you're holding.
The theme for this first one is around nuance and duality. We'll be using 2 decks, and I'm not sharing more details about them because there's a surprise in store! I love surprises and I hate spoilers. For now, you can appreciate the card backs:
My intention for Living Altars is to empower people to step more fully into creative expression, inclusive compassion, audacious imagination, and ecstatic wonder.
It's happening February 9th, in my home, with all my instruments. Space is limited; rate is sliding scale.
All the details are here.
In divine creativity,
S.
