spaces for listening ~ reading ~ grieving

Greetings on this potent new moon + solar eclipse -

This love letter has 3 things: a podcast interview + info about tarot & oracle decks I use + an upcoming grief retreat.

First, the podcast: my interview with Let's Get Stabby was just released! You can listen on Spotify or Apple.

Not hooked up with podcasts? No worries. You can listen directly from the homepage of the podcast.

For the record, I've never been way into podcasts, but I have definitely delighted in binging in the interviews on Let's Get Stabby. They are swoon-worthy, all with women who are working to make a difference in the world.

My interview was recorded 3 years ago last February, but it's all still timely. You'll learn a bit of my back story of toxic dynamics in the workplace, as well as some of my favorite topics, like defining your sacred and digging into nuances. I'd love to know what you think!

During the podcast, I share a bit about 1:1 sessions. If you've had a 1:1 session with me, you know part of the process is choosing the right deck for your reading. Some intuitives and card readers prefer using the same deck for all readings, but I'm the opposite. I love finding a deck that's a good match for YOU.

Why? Because no one thing is the right fit for everyone. Some decks are more resonant depending on you, your personality, your identity—if you love gardening, if you prefer women-centered presentations, if you are queer, if you love surrealist art.

So, it's important to me to work easily with a variety of decks, in order to have the greatest possible connection for your reading. And in the case of longer sessions, sometimes we end up digging into more than one deck.

(Not to mention that a side effect is that I benefit too. I've never wanted to live in an echo chamber; I have always loved variety. My life is richer from reading from all these decks.)

But I haven't ever shared the decks I use regularly. Now feels like a great time to do so. When you have a 1:1 session, this is what we choose from:
~ tarot: Wanderer's Tarot, da Vinci Enigma Tarot, Marigold Tarot, Smith Waite (same as Rider Waite) Tarot
~ oracle: Sacred Earth Oracle, Earthbound Oracle, Mystical Shaman Oracle, Santa Muerte Oracle, Sacred Rebels Oracle

Additionally, I have a big stack of decks I'm working towards greater familiarity with. The current batch is all decks based on Smith Waite, with lots of deviations:
~ Wooden Tarot, El Tarot Andino, Light-Seers Tarot, Next World Tarot, Antique Anatomy Tarot
In a few months, these decks will be in rotation as well.

Lastly, the grief retreat—a co-created ritual space with many of my favorite things: meditation, music, writing, moving.

Pandemic living has denied us our usual spaces to grieve and process emotions. What I've learned is that it isn't requisite to be with people who are going through the same grief and same emotions. Or even with people who know each other already. All that's really needed are people willing to hold space for each other.

The grief retreat is a space to be, to allow, to witness, to surrender. You can share as little or as much as you like. All of you is welcome, as you already are.

Reflections from a past participant:
"I found this virtual Grief Retreat to be very helpful to me in a time when I needed support to process some long-standing (including adolescent-related grief/trauma) issues. She has an innate and unique ability to provide, lead, and co-create a sacred container of individuals (otherwise unknown to one another) to feel safe and comfortable sharing one another’s journeys, stories, and feelings around grief. The free-flowing structure (including a variety of simple tools and strategies) was surprisingly healing for me. I highly recommend others who feel they need/desire to have such a forum to process their experiences to join this experience."

The next one is on Saturday, June 19th at 11:00am-3:00pm Eastern time. (Time converter here). Some of the proceeds will be donated to Black Lives Matter.

So, after all that - happy listening, hope to have a reading with you soon, honoring all your emotions in these wild times.

Blessings,
S.
